Iraqi Business Council Hosts the Signing Ceremony of Novel Entitled “Dancing on the Embers of Memory”
As part of the activities of IBC Cultural Program (Ibdaa), IBC hosted on Wednesday April 24th, 2019 the signing ceremony of a Novel entitled “Dancing on the Embers of Memory” by Iraqi Journalist Aseel Sami Abdul Hameed.
At the beginning of the ceremony, verses from the Holy Koran (Al Fatiha Sura) was recited to commemorate the late celebrated popular poet Khideir Hadi. Poet Mamoun Al-Nattah presented a brief review on writer Aseel Sami, who in turn talked about her first published Novel “Dancing on the Embers of Memory”, in which she tried to convey the image and feelings of a migrant woman lost between her nostalgia to her homeland and the fear of returning to it after having experienced many material and moral manifestations of discrimination, violence and destruction .. a women who tries to adapt to new homelands and surroundings and at the same time clings to her Iraqi identity through her association with an Iraqi man, but failure of her marriage brings her back to the same maze .. the maze of detachment and separation from her homeland and living with its memories.
After this brief presentation, Poet Mamoun Al-Nattah recited poetic verses about the homeland.
At the end of the ceremony, IBC Deputy Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji presented IBC Icon (the Sumerian Tree of Life) to the Iraqi Journalist Aseel Sami, who in turn expressed her appreciation and gratitude to IBC for supporting and sponsoring Iraqi innovators inside outside Iraq through its (Ibdaa) Cultural Program.
On the Iraqi Embassy side, the ceremony was attended by the Iraqi Embassy First Secretary Mr. Ahmad Al-Khalidi and Mr. Hussam Al-Azzawi from the Iraqi Commercial Consulate.
On IBC side, the ceremony was attended by IBC Deputy Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji, Board member Mrs. Wassan Al-Khafaji, and IBC members; Dr. Amila Naji, Mrs. Haifa Al-Sheikhli, Dr. Ahad Al-Douri, Mr. Faris Kamal, a crowd of Iraqi artists, writers and journalists, in addition to media, IBC CEO and staff.
