First personal Exhibition of Iraqi Artist, Ms. Zainab Jraidan

Among the Iraqi Business Council’s (IBC’s) cultural programme activities, the Jordanian first deputy speaker, Mr. Ahmad Al-Safadi opened the first personal exhibition of Iraqi artist, Ms. Zainab Jraidan, under the theme: A Salute to Laila al-Attar … Laila and the Clouds.

The event was attended by His Excellency (HE) the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Jordan, Dr Jawad Hadi Abbas; the Iraqi Cultural Attaché, Professor Abbas al-Huseiny; IBC’s Vice President and Secretary- General, Saad Naji; IBC’s Vice President, Mr. Turki al-Qaisy; member of the board of directors, Mrs. Wasan al-Khafajy; and a number of the IBC’s members: Engineer Anas ash-Shabeeb Baban, Mr. Ziyad Al-Safi, Mrs. Laila Pio and Mrs. Mina al-Faily, as well as a number of artists and media professionals, as well as the IBC’s guests from the Iraqi community in Jordan, in addition to the IBC’s General Manager and staff. The event at the IBC hall( Zain) 1st floor.

During the ceremonial, H.E. member of the parliament, Mr. Ahmad Al-Safady along with H.E. Iraqi ambassador and IBC’s members – escorted by Ms. Jraidan, walked through the corners of the exhibition to know about the displayed tableaus which are featured with a unique mixture of contemporary colours. Ms. Jraidan, the artist, reflected the depth of human feelings and her appreciation of women beauty on canvas.

 

IBC organized signing ceremony for Professor Talib al-Baghdady’s book titled “Maqamat al-Baghdady”

Among the Iraqi Business Council’s (IBC’s) cultural programme activities, and in the presence of Iraq’s ambassador to Jordan, Dr Jawad Hadi Abbas, a signing ceremony for Dr Talib al-Baghdady’s book titled Maqamat al-Baghdady (a ‘maqama’, which is the singular form of ‘maqamat,’ isa ‘novel in rhymed prose’), was held in the IBC’s meeting room, first floor, Sweifiyyeh.

 

 

At the beginning of the function, IBC’s member, Mr. Mohammad al-Baghdady, gave an overview about the autobiography of Professor Talib al-Baghdady, who then took the floor to talk about his authored works, the latest of which is the one that has been recently published under the title “Maqamat al-Baghdady” – one in series called Akhadeed fi ath-Thakira “Grooves of Memory”.

During the event, the author touched on the topics discussed in this work, including his memories as an Iraqi national who has lived through all the eras that the country has experienced, and that have inscribed his memory over the years of the awarenesswhich he has lived – while approaching the age of eighty.

The author signed a significant number of copies of his book for the audience. The event also included melodies of the Oud (a musical instrument similar to the European lute or an ancestor of the guitar) played by Ziyad al-Awsi.

The ceremony was attended by Dr Abdel-Razzaq al-Issa, the incumbent cultural attaché, Mr. Abbas al-Husseiny and a constellation of the attending artists, writers, educators and the Iraqi community members in Jordan, alongside with a huge crowd of media professionals and satellite station channels.

On the part of the IBC, the ceremony was attended by the President, Dr. Majid alSadi; the Vice President and Secretary, Mr. Saad Naji; member of the board of directors, Ms. Wasan al-Khafajy; and a number of the members of the board: Mr. Sa’id Kaskous, Mr. Mohammad al-Mufti and Mrs. Widad as-Saffaar, as well as the IBC’s director-general and staff.

Opening of the 7th Personal Exhibition for the Artist Dr. Abdul Mursil Al-Zaidi

Under the Patronage of the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Dr. Jawad Hadi Abbas, the Minister Plenipotentiary Mr. Rashid Sadiq opened on Saturday evening 17/01/2015 on behalf of the Iraqi Ambassador the seventh exhibition of Iraqi artist Dr. Abdul Mursil A-Zaidi under the title “Under the Shades of Heritage” on IBC Hall – 1st floor – Swefiya.

The Iraqi artist Dr. Abdul Murdsil Al-Zaidi exhibited a large collection of his paintings inspired by the cultural heritage and the creative Iraqi people, containing symbols and popular icons such as old Baghdadi houses and historic Baghdadi allays, domes, the distinguished Iraqi Shanashil and popular bazaars (Suks).

The exhibition also embodied intellectual and spiritual contents that expressed the Iraqi lifestyle.
The ceremony was attended by the Jordanian MP Deputy Ahmed Al-Safadi on behalf of the Chairman of the Jordanian House of Representatives.

The event was also attended by the Iraqi Cultural Attaché Dr. Abdul Razzaq Al-Issa, Assistant of the Health Attaché Mr. Abdul Wahab Amin, a crowd of Iraqi and Arab artists, intellectuals and writers and a number of Iraqi community in the Kingdom. On behalf of IBC, the ceremony was attended by IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Sadi, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General Mr. Saad naji, Vice Chairman Mr. Turkey Al-Qaissi, Board member Dr. Fakhri Rishan, and number of IBC General Assembly; Mrs. Widad Al-Saffar, Mrs. Layla Piyyo, Mrs. Basma Bahaa, artists Isra Al-Taie, in addition to a crowd of journalists, IBC CEO and staff.

Opening of the 9th Art Exhibition of the Iraqi Artist Tahseen Al-Zaidi

Under the auspices of the Iraqi Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Dr. Jawad Hadi Abbas, the ninth art exhibition of the Iraqi Artist Tahseen Al-Zaidi under the title “Travels” was opened on Saturday 13/9/2014 on IBC Hall in Swefiya – First floor.

During the opening ceremony, the Iraqi Ambassador toured the exhibition with IBC Board members; Mr. Usama Al-Quraishi, Mr. Makki Al-Faiz and Mr. Muhammad Jawad Al-Jubouri accompanied by the Iraqi Artist Tahseen Al-Zaidi to see the exhibited paintings in which the artist expressed man’s changing moods and situations between joy and sorrow, hope and ambition in the Iraqi society despite the time and place circumstances experienced by Iraqis, and the Iraqi person’s desire for change to the better.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Iraqi Commercial Attaché Mr. Adib Al-Kaka’ie and a number of IBC members; Mr. Raed Allawi, Mrs. Nidhal Jafar Naji, Mrs. Basma Bahaa, Artist Yada Al-Obaidi and a crowd of Iraqi artists, journalists, IBC guests, IBC CEO and staff.

 

The idea of establishing the Iraqi Business Council is based on the common desire generated by a number of elites. Those who are Iraqi investors and businessmen on the territory of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan unanimous in the importance of creating economic reference for them, as well as for those who wish to join them in order to maximize Iraq’s investment in Jordan, as well as to contribute actively to Iraq’s construction and reconstruction.

The idea of establishing the Iraqi Business Council was well-founded and blessed by the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Accordingly, the approval of the competent Jordanian authorities was commended for launching the Iraqi Business Council in Jordan.

Inauguration of a Signing Ceremony for A Female Pupil’s Memoirs – Between Yesterday and Today Authored by Maye Shibr

Among the activities of the cultural programme of the Iraqi Business council (IBC), Creativity, the IBC orchestrated yesterday, 14.06.2015, in the IBC’s meeting room, a signing ceremony forA Female Pupil’s Memoirs – Between Yesterday and Today, authored by Iraqi writer, Ms. Maye Shibr.

At the outset, Professor Salah Jarrar, former Minister of Culture, delivered an overview about the autobiography of authoress, Maye Shibr, reviewing her significant role in educational issues.

Professor Jarrar also touched on the role of the writer in the Jordanian cultural landscape since the nineties.

He also walked the audience through a number of the works of Ms. Shibr in the areas of education, school libraries and community issues, as well as through her continuous efforts in the publication of her articles in a number of the local newspapers.

Professor Jarrar described her the book as ‘introducing a new distinguished colour, where the authoress employed her memoirs to present creative educational notions using charming, smooth and proper rhetoric’.

He also looked into the key significantly important subjects which the publication examines and which has guiding benefits for education; meanwhile, the speaker stressed the importance of education in the early years of childhood, hoping the Ministry of Education would guide its schools to own this valuable product, as it can serve as a basic part and reference to which male and female teachers, school principals and students would refer.

On her part, authoress Shibr presented a number of the topics that her work tackles, including her memoirs during childhood; she discussed the education methodologies comparing the past with the present, and the role of technology evolution and its impact across generations.

The event also included poems presented by the Sheik of Arab artists, Rafiq al-Lahham and Poet Lawyer Raghib al-Qassim. At the end of the gathering, both of Mr. Mamoun at-Talhouni and Professor Jarrar commended the role IBC is playing in supporting male and female authors and writers, as well as the Iraqi community in Jordan.

The opening ceremony was attended by Iraq ambassador to Jordan, Professor Jawad Hadi Abbas and his wife; the cultural attaché, Dr Abbas al-Husseiny; Iraq health attaché assistant, Dr Wahhab Abbas; the military attaché at the Egyptian embassy to Jordan; and Mr. Aayed ath-Thafeery, chairman of the board of directors/Arab-Australian Institute for Strategic Affairs.

On the part of the IBC, the ceremony was attended by IBC’s Vice President and Secretary, Saad Naji; IBC’s Vice President and a number of the IBC’s members of the board of directors: Mr. Nizar Aawjy, Mr. Mohammad Jawad al-Jboury, Mrs. Wasan al-Khafajy and member of the humanitarian committee, Mrs. Widad as-Saffaar, as well as a number of the representatives of the diplomatic missions to the country, in addition to a large crowd of Iraqi and Arab writers and artists, satellite station channels, the media and the IBC’s director-general and staff.
