IBC Hosts 2017 Global Architecture “Tamayouz” Award
Under the patronage of HE Minister of Public Works & Housing Engineer Sami Halassa, IBC hosted on Saturday December 2nd 2017 at the Grand Millennium Hotel in the Jordanian capital Amman the ceremony of the global architecture award “Tamayouz” for 2017 sponsored by IBC, University of Coventry, Diwan for Engineering Consultancies, Ayad Al-Tuhafi Architecture Bureau, Trade X Global, Iraqi Private Banks League and Zain Telecommunications – Jordan, as well as other sponsors and supporters.
“Tamayouz” Award is an independent initiative solely supported by Iraqi efforts specialized in architecture, with the objective of supporting young architects and inspirational design initiatives. During the ceremony, the winners were honored according to their status.
The ceremony included the following Awards :
– Rifat Al-Chaderji Award for the reconstruction of liberated areas in Iraq – Mosul Housing for 2017 awarded to architects from Poland, Iraq, France, Italy and the United States of America.
This Award supports reconstruction of the liberated areas in Mosul, conducting preliminary studies and finding solutions for the return of the displaced people to their areas.
– “Tamayouz” Award for Architecture Achievement for Life for 2017 awarded to the prominent Iraqi Architect Hisham Muneer who is one of the early founders of the Engineering and Architecture Department in the University of Baghdad.
– “Tamayouz” Award for Iraqi students for 2017 awarded to the top Iraqi student Nazar Razzaq from the University of Baghdad, which University won the top Architecture Department in Iraq for 2017.
– “Tamayouz” International Award for 2017 awarded to the top three architects from Bangladesh, Argentina and India.
During the ceremony, the Minister of Public Works and Housing Engineer Sami Halassa lauded the academic importance of “Tamayouz” Award for Architecture and the efforts of its sponsors, especially the founder of this Award Architect Ahmed Al-Mallak and the role of IBC in supporting the academic community locally and globally.
Also, the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mrs. Safiya Al-Siheil expressed her pride with this Iraqi academic initiative which gave young architects the opportunity to present their architectural talents and achievements to the world.
Mrs. Al-Siheil further lauded the role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in embracing Iraqi students and giving them seats in Jordanian schools and universities. She also thanked all universities and institutions supporting this Award.
During the ceremony, IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Saedi spoke about the academic support extended to the students through providing scholarships to talented and creative students to enable them to create a better world.
The event was attended by members of IBC in Jordan, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Jordan, representatives of diplomatic missions, Deans and Heads of Architecture Engineering Departments of the Universities of Coventry, Cambridge and Polytechnic University – Milan and Jordanian and Iraqi Universities whose students took part in this year’s competition and won advanced positions in engineering designs.
Heads of major engineering and architecture companies in the Middle East also attended this event, as well as a crowd of those interested in architecture, specialists, media people and elites of the Jordanian and Iraqi societies.
