Meeting with Iraqi President Dr. Fouad Massoum At His Jordan Residence

According to the invitation extended by the Iraqi government, a number of Iraqi and Jordanian businessmen met on Thursday May 18th, 2017 with the Iraqi President Dr. Fouad Massoum at his residence in Jordan. IBC was represented by IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Saedi, IBC Vice Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji, IBC Board member Mr. Ahmed Sarraf and IBC members; Mr. Ahmed Ismael Saleh and Mr. Ahmed Jubouri. The meeting was also attended by the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mrs. Safiya Al-Seheil and the ministerial team accompanying the Iraqi President Dr. Massoum.
During the meeting, the Iraqi President Dr. Massoum stressed the need to give the private sector a real opportunity to contribute to the development of the Iraqi economy, pointing out the necessity of providing the necessary legislations and requirements to activate the contribution of the private sector in the reconstruction drive, industry and agriculture sectors and strengthening the economic and investment relations between Iraq and Jordan.

On their part, the present Iraqi and Jordanian investors stressed the firmness of the brotherly relations and cooperation between the two countries and keenness on strengthening such ties.

They further reviewed a number of obstacles facing their projects and business in Iraq particularly the continued closure of Trebil border crossing.

The Ministerial team responded to all queries raised by the investors.
On this occasion, Dr. Saedi delivered a welcome speech expressing the desire of the Iraqi investors abroad to support their country with new investments inside Iraq.

On the Jordanian side, the meeting was attended by the Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Dr. Ibrahim Saif, in addition to a number of Presidents of Federations and Chambers of Industry and Trade.

 

Opening & Laying the Foundation Corner of “The Golden Gate”

On behalf of the Jordanian Prime Minister Dr. Hani Malqi, President of the Greater Amman Municipality Committee Dr. Yousif Shawarbeh inaugurated on Thursday May 18th, 2017 at Um Utheina Project location – Shat Al-Arab Street the “Golden Gate” Project, which is one of the investment projects implemented by the Complexes Investment Company owned by IBC member Mr. Hassan Nassir Al-Lami.

The ceremony commenced with a speech delivered by IBC member Mr. Hassan Nassir Al-Lami in which he stressed the depth of the brotherly relations existing between the Jordanian and Iraqi people, lauding the wisdom of His Majesty King Abdullah II, His Majesty’s wise economic policies and the facilities granted to Iraqi investors in the Kingdom, pointing out that this Project is the third in a series of projects that Mr. Al-Lami is keen on implementing in the Kingdom.

Mr. Al-Lami further reviewed the “Golden Gate” Project that will be executed on an area of 9000 square meters, with a building plot of 39000 square meters, including parking lots of an area of 12000 square meters that is able to accommodate 450 vehicles, a basement of 6800 square meters accommodating a modern mall, and a ground floor accommodating 40 jewelry shops, first floor of 4000 square meters accommodating 40 luxury international brands shops, and a second floor that would be allocated for three international restaurants with an area of 1500 square meters per restaurant that will have individual entrances.

President of the Greater Amman Municipality Committee Dr. Yousif Shawarbeh delivered a speech in which he affirmed the commitment of the Greater Amman Municipality to provide the investors with the relevant facilities through facilitating the procedures and their follow up in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II. Dr. Shawarbeh commended the Project and its significance in creating job opportunities in the Kingdom.
On IBC side, the opening ceremony was attended by IBC Board members; Mr. Mekki Al-Faiz, Mr. Ahmed Sarraf, Mr. Mumtaz Al-Taie and Mrs. Wasan Khafaji, and IBC member Mrs. Hadeel Hassan, IBC CEO and staff, in addition to a crowd of journalists, businessmen and politicians. A luncheon was held on this occasion in honor of the guests.

Meeting of the Joint Iraqi – Jordanian Committee

The meeting of the joint Iraqi – Jordanian Committee was held on Thursday May 18th, 2017 at Amman Royal Hotel. On IBC side, the meeting was attended by IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Saedi, IBC Vice Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji, IBC Board member Mr. Ahmed Sarraf and IBC members Mr. Ahmed Ismael Saleh and Mr. Ahmed Jubouri, in addition to a number of Iraqi businessmen and investors.

As on the side of the Iraqi government delegation, the meeting was attended by the Iraqi Oil Minister Mr. Jabbar Luaibi, Minister of Planning Dr. Salman Al-Jumaili, Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Finance Minister Mr. Abdul Razzaq Al-Issa, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, President of the Iraqi National Commission for Investment Dr. Sami Al-Araji and the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mrs. Safiya Al-Siheil. As on the Jordanian side, the meeting was attended by the Minister of Industry & Trade Dr. Yarub Al-Qudha, Minister of Energy & Mineral Resources Dr. Ibrahim Saif, in addition to a number of Presidents of Federations and Chambers of Trade and Industry.

During the meeting, a number of key points were discussed such as : exempting the Jordanian products from customs duties where the participating Jordanian delegation pointed out that the Iraqi authorities have been provided with a detailed report on production capacity of factories and types of commodities, stressing the desire to obtain the relevant approvals to enhance the trade relations between the two countries.

Further, the Iraqi delegation reviewed the implementation phases of the Iraqi – Jordanian Pipeline Project between Basra and Aqaba.

The participants also talked about completion of the award procedures of the Pipeline Project between Najaf and Aqaba and awarding the Project to a company that has been rehabilitated.

The Iraqi delegation further pointed out that a new significant strategic project has been added to the joint projects between Iraq and Jordan that is the Railway Line between Basra and Aqaba which would later be extended to Egypt.

Opening of the Contemporary Islamic Ceramic Art Exhibition Titled “Letters & Gold” For Iraqi Ceramic Artist Raad Duleimi

Among the activities of IBC Cultural Program (Ibdaa) and under Patronage of  Zain Telecommunication Company, the Contemporary Islamic Ceramics exhibition titled (Letters & Gold) for Iraqi ceramics artist Raad Duleimi was opened yesterday Saturday May 13th, 2017 on IBC Hall. During the opening ceremony, the Iraqi artist toured the exhibition with IBC Vice Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji and IBC Board member Mr. Fakhri Reshan to view the items in exhibit.

The exhibition included 30 pieces such as murals, ceramic utensils and tridimensional shapes. Being a calligrapher, engineer and designer, artist Duleimi takes the engineering side in designing letters giving them architectural dimension.

The tridimensional point is Mr. Duleimi’s artistic imprint as he sees the point as the letters’ most beautiful secrets and the source of verbal and visual composition and dedicated painting and the Arabic letter in ceramics to give aesthetic dimension.
The opening ceremony was attended by a number of IBC members; Dr. Muhammad Baldawi and Mrs. Layla Piyyo, a number of IBC guests, a crowd of artists, journalists, satellite TV channels, in addition to IBC CEO and staff.

The idea of establishing the Iraqi Business Council is based on the common desire generated by a number of elites. Those who are Iraqi investors and businessmen on the territory of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan unanimous in the importance of creating economic reference for them, as well as for those who wish to join them in order to maximize Iraq’s investment in Jordan, as well as to contribute actively to Iraq’s construction and reconstruction.

The idea of establishing the Iraqi Business Council was well-founded and blessed by the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Accordingly, the approval of the competent Jordanian authorities was commended for launching the Iraqi Business Council in Jordan.

HomeCSR IBC Takes Part in the Ceremony of Launching the Award of Architect Rifat Chaderji In Milan City – Italy

Among the activities of IBC Cultural Program (Ibdaa) and IBC Diamond patronage of “Tamayouz” Architectural Creativity Award since its establishment in 2012, IBC participated on Tuesday May 9th, 2017 in the ceremony relating to launching the award of architect Dr. Rifat Chaderji concerning the reconstruction of the liberated regions (Housing in Mosul), and launching of the global “Tamayouz” Award hosted by the Italian Polytechnic University of Milan.

The ceremony started with IBC welcome speech by IBC CEO who reviewed the conception of establishing IBC Cultural Program (Ibdaa) and the role of IBC, who is one of the first founders of the Companies Social Responsibilities of the UN Global Compact in Iraq to support competencies and scientific elites for the creation of a better Iraq, and IBC patronage since 2013 to 2016 of scholarships of Tamayouz Award winners – Iraq when IBC presented during hosting Tamayouz Award honoring ceremony in Amman last year a scholarship to the Iraqi student Ahmed Al-Mashhadani to study for his Masters Degree in Polytechnic University of Milan for the academic year 2017 / 2018.

IBC CEO further stressed IBC desire and readiness to establish effective partnerships and open cooperation horizons with all academic and scientific institutions in the field of cultural exchange and the establishment of joint projects and programs, thanking all sponsors of this Award particularly its founder architect Ahmed Al-Malak.

The ceremony was complemented by the speech of Tamayouz founder architect Ahmed Al-Malak who thanked IBC and all sponsors of Tamayouz Architecture Excellence Award especially the late legend architect Zaha Hadid who chaired Tamayouz Jury since its establishment and had a great influence in spreading the award locally and internationally.  Mr. Al-Malak further reviewed the award history, objectives and categories.

The ceremony included a speech by Architect Fernando Olba (Partner in Fernando Olba Architects & Urbanites – Valencia) who spoke about the Award Jury and its entries, followed by the speech of architect Ayad Al-Tuhafi (Director of Ayad Al-Tuhafi Engineers & Architects – London) about the Housing in Mosul competition, giving a brief about Mosul city and the destruction it was exposed to after its invasion by Daesh (ISIS) terrorist group, and the speech of architect Muhammad Al-Assam (Chairman of Diwan Architectural Group – Dubai) who reviewed the engineering projects executed by the Group in Iraq and the United Arab Emirates and future opportunities, the speech of Mr. Luay Yousif (Bonaire Company) who reviewed an engineering project that preserves the environment and Iraqi heritage, followed by a speech by architect Philip Michael Wolfson (Director of Wolfson Design – London and Miami) who spoke of his cooperation with Zaha Hadid which lasted for ten years and her effect on the world of architecture.

The ceremony was attended by Mrs. Katherine McNeil (Coventry University Course Director), Mr. Mudhir Al-Saloum (Mas Architecture – Leister and Manama) and Mr. Elesando Roca (Polytechnic University of Milan Vice President).
