Among the activities of its Cultural Program (Ibdaa) , IBC hosted on Saturday February 8th, 2020 on its Hall / 1st floor the signing ceremony of “The Path to Awareness” – a study on the foundations of awareness and environmental awareness – by the visiting guest from Baghdad Dr. Majid Matar Al-Khateeb, issued by (Dar Al-Thakira) for Publishing and Distribution.
At the beginning of the ceremony Dr. Shawqi Naji Al-Saati gave an introductory briefing about the Author, his academic degrees and works such as; (Citizenship and Environment, the Urban Fabric of Al-Najaf, Contemporary Studies on the Environment and Pollution, and Iraq’s Cultural and Economic History), and his supervising a number of thesis, in addition to chairing several committees in the same specialization.
The Author of the book Dr. Al-Khateeb welcomed the guests and expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Iraqi Business Council for hosting the signing ceremony of his book.
He then gave an overview on the most important contents of the book chapters, which is considered a study on the foundations of awareness and environmental awareness, and multiple visions of the concept of awareness, its implications, goals and types from which the five chapters were generated.
The first chapter of his book constituted an entrance to awareness to define it in terms of language and terminology, the concept of awareness and the relationship between awareness and reason.
The second chapter presented a historic vision of awareness, its roots and relationship with the human instinct, the historic stages of awareness and the relationship of awareness with the human needs.
In the third chapter, the Author talked about the main sources that formed and crystallized human awareness, the impact and role of the environmental information, education and environment and their importance in generating awareness and environmental awareness on the level of the individual and global community.
As for the fourth chapter, it constituted a broad entrance to the environment in its definitions and multiple components, in addition to indicating the relationship and mutual impact between the environment and sustainable development.
In the last chapter of his book, the Author focused on environmental awareness, its concept and objectives and means of achieving it and the necessity of preserving the environment.
The last chapter of the book ended by crystallizing the fruit of that awareness represented by the global concern and that of humanity as a whole with environment, its contemporary and serious problems that have occupied the mind of the world in the recent decades.
The ceremony included questions raised by the attendees and discussions on some points contained in the book.
At the end of the ceremony the Author signed copies of his book and presented to the attendees that included IBC members, intellectuals, academics and businessmen.
