Opening of “Elite Exhibition” Under Patronage of the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mr. Haider Al-Athari On IBC Hall / 1st Floor / Swefiya

Among the activities of IBC Cultural Program (Ibdaa), “Elite Exhibition” was opened on Thursday June 23rd 2022 on IBC Hall / 1st Floor.

The exhibition, which was distinguished by creative designs executed by Iraqi artists and craftsmen, was opened under patronage and attendance of the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan, Mr. Haider Al-Athari, and his wife, Mrs. Maysam Al-Rubaiee, the Egyptian Commercial Attaché, Mrs. Muna Abboud, IBC Deputy Chairman and Secretary General, Dr. Saad Naji, and IBC Board members; Engineer Mekki Al-Faiz, Mr. Muhammad Jawad Al-Jubouri and Mrs.

Tamara Daghistani, and members of IBC General Assembly; Engineer Turki Al-Qaisi, Mr. Fakhri Reshan, Mr. Ghassan Al-Jouaani and his wife, in addition to a crowd that included members of the Iraqi community in Jordan including artists, academics and journalists, satellite TV channels, IBC Chief Executive Officer and staff.

During the opening ceremony, the Iraqi Ambassador toured the exhibition with IBC Deputy Chairman and Secretary-General, IBC Board members and members of the General Assembly to acquaint themselves with the exhibits, which were characterized by special designs reflecting and expressing the Iraqi cultural heritage such as costumes, embroideries, handcrafts and paintings executed by Iraqi designers, who excelled in the usage of textiles and colors.

The Iraqi Ambassador, Mr. Haider Al-Athari, praised efforts of the Iraqi Business Council and its continued keenness to organize and hold cultural events that aim at supporting artists, creators and craftsmen and encourage them to produce all that expresses the Iraqi culture with its great diversity in all fields.

Furthermore, Al-Beit Al-Baghdadi Catering Company, headed by Mr. Mustafa Al-Mullahweesh, provided the event’s hospitality that included delicious dishes chosen from the distinguished Iraqi cuisine.

Including the activities of the Iraqi Business Council’s Cultural Program “Ibdaa”, IBC hosted on Monday June 6th 2022 at Amman Royal Hotel the signing and publicising ceremony of “Musafir Zadahu Al-Khayal” Book by the renowned Iraqi actress Hind Kamil in the presence of the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mr. Haider Al-Athari, the renowned Iraqi Director Mr. Faisal Al-Yasiri, the renowned Iraqi actor Mr. Hasan Hosni, and Head of the Jordanian Artists Union Director Muhammad Yousif Al-Abadi, IBC’S Deputy Chairman and Secretary-General Dr. Saad Naji, IBC Board members; Mr. Mekki Al-Faiz, Mr. Khalil Al-Bunniya and IBC member Mr. Nazar Awji, in addition to IBC members and members of IBC Cultural Program “Ibdaa”, along with a large crowd of artistic, cultural and media figures.

The ceremony included a speech delivered by IBC Deputy Chairman and Secretary-General Dr. Saad Naji on “Ibdaa” Cultural Program, which was launched by IBC since its establishment as cultural and humanitarian program with the objective of supporting elites, cultural and artistic competencies, which represents an aspect of IBC social responsibility and the true partnership between the business community and the cultural and academic bodies.

The Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mr. Haider Al-Abadi commended the renowned Iraqi actress Hind Kamil and her imprint on the memory and taste of Iraqis for decades.

The Ambassador also extended his thanks and appreciation to the Iraqi Business Council for hosting the event and commended IBC’s Cultural Program “Ibdaa”.

The presenter of the event, journalist Muhammad Al-Sayed Mohsin, gave a brief preview on the Iraqi actress’s biography, which extended over decades of excellence in the artistic field.

The Iraqi actress Hind Kamil also spoke about releasing her “Musafir Zadahu Al-Khayal”, which is considered a historic document, though which she aimed at documenting and chronicling the career of an Iraqi female actress that started in the mid-seventies of the past century to the present date, who has been a witness on political eras, tribulations, conflicts and wars that took place in Iraq; as she is the daughter of these wars, who seeks to document the career of this “actor” through his time by shedding the light on his vocabulary, highlighting his clothing, the nature of his experience and general knowledge.

Through this book, actress Kamil also tried to document the “actor’s” life; his philosophy, vision, assessment and appreciation of matters, so that this book may become a document, a reference and a witness to the era.. a witness to the phase that Iraq and its people when through.. a document that speaks about a character representing the stages that he went through.. as well as talking about the many characters that crossed path with the main character (the author of this book).

Therefore, the actress tried hard to produce and implement it in the manner of a historic document to become a source and reference for specialized libraries to refer to and make use of the information contained in it, as well as to become an example for specialized establishment interested in documenting the lives of creative figures.

The event also included a speech by the renowned Iraqi actor Hasan Hosni, who highlighted a number of important roles played by actress Hind Kamil.

 

IBC Deputy Chairman & Secretary-General Participates in the “UN Global Compact Leaders’ Summit” for 2022

At the invitation extended by Mrs. Sanda Ojiambo , the CEO of the UN Global Compact, the largest world community initiative for corporates sustainable development, the Iraqi Business Council Deputy Chairman & Secretary-General, Dr. Saad Naji, and the Council’s CEO participated in the “UN Global Compact Leaders’ Summit” for 2022, which was held on June 1st and 2nd 2022 via video communication technology in New York – United States of America.

This year, over 12,000 business leaders, governments, UN representatives, civil society and corporates executives’ leaders gathered in the UN Global Compact Leaders’ Summit led by the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. Antonio Guterres, and the UN Secretary-General Assistant and CEO of the Un Global Compact, Mrs. Sanda Ojiambo. The Summit was held under the slogan “The World We Want”.

The event included bilateral meetings in Bangkok – Thailand, in addition to the opening of Stockholm UN Conference 50+ to celebrate the anniversary of the UN Conference in 1972 on the Human Environment, as well as celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Global Environmental Action.

During the Summit, the United Nations Global Agreement was announced on the new strategy to engage small and medium companies to work on achieving sustainable development goals, particularly sustainable growth, employment, small and medium companies, industrialization and sustainable innovation.

The closing session of the Summit witnessed the announcement of 10 Sustainable Development Goals Pioneers of the UN Global Compact, who are business leaders from around the world, who are doing exceptional work to advance the Sustainable Development Goals by implementing the ten principles of the UN Global Compact on Human Rights, Environment, Labor and Anti-Corruption.

It is noteworthy that the Iraqi Business Council in Jordan was one of the first organizations that had joined the UN Global Compact and worked on applying and implementing the ten principles of the Compact in all its procedures and adopting the Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility.

The idea of establishing the Iraqi Business Council is based on the common desire generated by a number of elites. The idea of establishing the Iraqi Business Council was well-founded and blessed by the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Accordingly, the approval of the competent Jordanian authorities was commended for launching the Iraqi Business Council in Jordan.

The one who carried out the mission of founding is an elite of Iraqi businessmen of recognized competence and abilities. and since the Council’s inception in late 2006, members have worked towards efforts to support Iraqi investments in Jordan. as well as coordination and cooperation with official entities, to find solutions and proposals to overcome obstacles and constraints facing investors s economic, investment and trade cooperation between Jordan and Iraq.

Economic Event: Meeting of the Iraqi Water Resources Minister Engineer Mehdi Rasheed Al-Hamdani With the President of the Iraqi Business Council Dr. Majid Al-Saadi

His Excellency the Iraqi Minister of Water Resources, Engineer Mehdi Rasheed Al-Hamdani, met the President of the Iraqi Business Council, Dr. Majid Al-Sadi, in his offices in the Ministry of Water Resources in Baghdad.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of possible solutions, with the help of the private sector, to ration the usage of water and also ration the operations of water sprinkling and irrigation using modern systems and transferring waters of several lakes to the Tigris River to raise the level.

For his part, Dr. Al- Sadi expressed the Council’s readiness to cooperate in supporting projects of the Ministry of Water Resources.

During the meeting, Mr. Al-Hamdani stressed the Ministry’s keenness to work on adopting modern irrigation techniques to reduce losses and increase agricultural yields, indicating that the Ministry works on delivering water quotas to all beneficiaries under the current conditions of water scarcity and climate change.

The meeting was attended by the Ministry’s Administrative Undersecretary, Mr. Raed Abed Zaid Al-Jashaamy.

The Iraqi Business Council Hosts the Annual Iftar Banquet At Le Grand Amman Hotel – (formerly the Millennium Hotel)

In order to strengthen and maintain the bonds of love and closeness during the holy month of Ramada; the month of love and forgiveness, and under the title “Ramadan Brings Us Together with Love and Goodness”, the Iraqi Business Council hosted on Thursday April 21st 2022 at the Grand Amman Hotel (the Millennium Hotel previously) the annual Ramadan Iftar banquet in honor of its members and their families.

During the Iftar banquet, Chairman of the Iraqi Business Council, Dr. Majid Saedi, talked in his welcome speech about the impact of Covid-19 Pandemic on the global economy, its repercussions and its serious challenges, and stressed the Council’s endeavors to advance the reality of economy and develop several economic projects after the Pandemic.

He further thanked the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Jordan, Mr. Haider Al-Athari, for supporting investors and businessmen and providing facilities to enhance investment in Iraq.

In turn, His Excellency the Iraqi Ambassador expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Iraqi Business Council for the humanitarian assistance it provided, especially during the difficult period that befell the world due to Covid-19  Pandemic .

Mr. Al-Athari affirmed that the Iraqi Embassy is a home for the Iraqi community in Jordan, whose interest is serving all Iraqis in Jordan.

He talked about the Embassy’s endeavors to grant entry visas and provide facilities to Jordanian investors for the sake of economic development in the two brotherly countries.

During the banquet, a joint cooperation agreement between the Iraqi Business Council and Royal Jordanian Airlines was announced, which included providing special services with distinguished and competitive prices for members of the Iraqi Business Council and their families on all Royal Jordanian flights.

The event also included poetic paragraphs by the renowned Arab poet Mr. Jabr Al-Baghdadi, who presented a poem commending Iraq and the people of Iraq, along with other songs to the rhythms of the Iraqi Chalghi group.

The event was attended by the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan, Mr. Haider Al-Athari, is wife, the Council’s Chairman and two Chairman Deputies, Board members and IBC members, their families, a number of Diplomats, Advisors, Attaches, Heads of Departments of the Iraqi Embassy in Jordan and Iraqi and Jordanian economic figures, in addition to the media, satellite TV channels, IBC Director General and staff.

The event was sponsored by Zain Telecommunications company, the strategic partner of the Iraqi Business Council.  It was also sponsored by Al-Mujama’at Investment Company for Real Estate Development.

Visit of the International Iraqi Architect & Designer Mr. Hussein Harba To the Iraqi Business Council

In the presence of the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mr. Haider Al-Athari, the international Iraqi Architect and Designer Mr. Hussein Harba, who resides in Italy, visited on Wednesday March 30th 2022 the Headquarters of the Iraqi Business Council during his short visit to Jordan after an over 42 years absence.

During the meeting, IBC Deputy Chairman & Secretary General Dr. Saad Naji welcomed the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan and IBC guests and reviewed the Council’s Cultural Program (Ibdaa) lauding the professional career of the Iraqi Architect and Designer Mr. Hussein Harba in the world of design and fashion, which left an Iraqi imprint in Italy.

After that, the Iraqi Ambassador spoke about the unlimited support extended by the Iraqi Embassy to Iraqi creators and the Iraqi community in Jordan, stressing his keenness to be personally present in all relevant cultural activities and events.

The international Iraqi Architect and Designer Mr. Hussein Harba provided an overview on his career in the world of design and fashion, also, several video recordings on his designs and fashion shows in Italy were shown.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Harba expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Iraqi business Council for organizing the meeting in the presence of IBC members and a number of Iraqi creative figures in the world of arts and culture.

Dr. Naji and Mr. Al-Athari presented Mr. Harba with the Council’s Commemorative Shield (the Sumerian Tree of Life Icon) as a tribute for his achievements and international excellence in the worlds of design and fashion.

The meeting was attended by members of IBC Board of Directors; Engineer Mekki Al-Faez and Mrs. Tamara Daghistani and IBC members; Ms. Maha Al-Nuaimi and Engineer Noor Al-Rifaie and Iraqi public figures such as the international Iraqi fashion designer Mrs. Hana Sadiq and businessmen Mr. Haider Al-Khafaji and Raed Al-Rahmani, in addition to IBC Director General and staff.

Opening of “Iraqi Creative Artists” Exhibition On IBC Hall

On the occasion of International Woman’s Day, and among the activities of the Iraqi Business Council’s Cultural Program (Ibdaa), Dr. Mahir Nafash opened on Monday, March 14th 2022 on IBC Hall / 2nd floor the “Iraqi Creative Artists” art exhibition representing the Jordanian Minister of Culture.

During the opening ceremony. Dr. Nafash toured the exhibition with IBC’s Vice President & Secretary General Dr. Saad Naji and President of the Iraqi Forum for Culture & Arts Mr. Dhiya Al-Rawi, while each artist gave an overview on her painting, her idea and the art school she belongs to.

This fine art carnival exhibition included (45) paintings by (45) creative women artists, which paintings were distinguished by their multiplicity of colors and various creative methods to celebrate the International Women’s Day.

During the ceremony the artists participating in the exhibition were honored by IBC (Ibdaa) Cultural Program and the Iraqi Forum for Culture & Arts with “Al-Tamayuz Shield” and certificates of appreciation.

On IBC side, the event was attended by several IBC members; Mr. Raed Allawi, Mr. Bashar Abdul Rahman and a crowd of artists and academics, media and satellite TV channels, in addition to IBC Director General Mrs. Abeer Al-Naib and staff.

We are pleased to inform you that the external auditors team of TUV International Company has renewed granting the Iraqi Business Council a Certificate of Conformity to the International Quality Management System Standards (ISO 9001:2015) for three years and for a second time in row since the Council’s obtainment of the Certificate in 2019 based on a comprehensive and effective audit of the Quality Management System for procedures and administrative standards applied by the Council.

Economic event: Minister of Culture Discusses with IBC Chairman Means of Cooperation to Execute Joint Artistic & Cultural Projects

The Minister of Culture, Tourism & Antiquities Dr. Hasan Nadim met with the President of the Iraqi Business Council & President of the Industrial Central England Development Council in the United Kingdom, Dr. Majid Sadi.

During the meeting, means of cooperation between the Ministry and institutions headed by the Iraqi businessman Dr. Sadi were discussed, specifically supporting and executing future art and cultural projects.

The Minister also emphasized Iraq’s need to the expertise of his people wherever they be to contribute to the reconstruction and rehabilitation of its infrastructure and superstructure on various levels, as well as the Cultural sector that needs at this stage to attract all Iraqi expatriate competencies and expertise.

For his part, Dr. Sadi said that the Ministry, under its current leadership, harbors a genuine desire to invite Iraqi expatriate businessmen and involve them in the process of supporting the cultural movement in Iraq.

The conversation between the two sides touched on many cultural and artistic files, including the production of films and dramas documenting the stage of establishing the modern Iraqi state, with the adoption of standards of accuracy and historical honesty in writing, as well as taking into account other technical aspects.
