Economic Event: IBC Chairman Talks about “Economy Under COVID-19 Pandemic” In the Electronic Workshop
IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Saedi participated in the electronic Workshop held by Al-Furatein Studies & Research Centre in partnership with the Elites & National Competencies for Reform, and Al-Naba Foundation for Culture and Information via ZOOM Application, which extended over three days from July 1st – 3rd 2020 titled “COVID-19 Pandemic: It’s Psychological, Social, Economic & Political Effects”.
The workshop was divided into three topics distributed over its three days.
Dr. Saedi started the session with introductions giving brief presentation on the social impact of the closure and the resulting economic impact on the local and global levels.
With the help of some international experiences, Dr. Saedi pointed out the economic risks related to many economic domestic and international systems and the financial implications that may lead to exposure of currencies that stand today at the forefront of financial exchange rate.
On the other hand, economy under the global closure will make countries search for economic resources other than those available prior to COVID-19 Pandemic, which would tend countries of revenue-generating economy to search for economic policy that rely on diversity in resources and self-sufficiency.
Dr. Saedi presented a set of recommendations; recommendations relating to the financial side (securities), recommendations relating to diversity of economic resources and legal recommendations that guarantee protection of the functioning of the economic machine towards benefitting from investment.
The workshop also hosted the consulting physician Dr. Saleh Dhamad – London and the Director of Al-Furatein Studies & Research Centre Dr. Bashar Sadoun Saedi – Baghdad.
Dr. Saedi’s session witnessed a large participation of over 274 participants of IBC Board and General Assembly members, economic institutions, United Nations and civil society organizations.
