The Iraqi Business Council hosted on Tuesday October 9th 2025 at IBC offices an economic meeting with His Excellency the British Ambassador to Jordan, Mr. Phillip Hall OBE, and the accompanying Delegation from London Stock Exchange Group and the British Embassy staff.
The meeting was attended by IBC Chairman, Dr. Majid Saedi, IBC Vice Chairman & Secretary-General, Dr. Saad Naji, IBC Board member Engineer Makki Al-Faiz, along with a number of IBC members; Mr. Ali Shanshal, Mrs. Niran Al-Hakim, Mr. Hassan Al-Safi, Mr. Hamza Al-Safi and IBC Director General.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Saedi welcomed His Excellency the British Ambassador and the visiting delegation from London Stock Exchange Group, outlining IBC efforts to support investment, investors and the facilities the Council extends to the companies that wish to expand their operations and investments, lauding the existing cooperation between IBC and the British Embassy since the Council’s establishment, followed by an overview provided by IBC members on their companies.
Also, Mr. Abe Ajay, President of Africa and the Middle East Markets at the London Stock Exchange Group, provided an overview on the activities of the Group, which is considered one of the world oldest and most important stock markets, explaining the mechanisms of issuing bonds, financial instruments, trading stocks and advanced securities that the Exchange provides to investors, individuals and institutions, giving them high flexibility to manage their investments and the ability to diversify their portfolios.
During the meeting, Dr. Saad Naji, IBC Vice Chairman & Secretary-General, discussed with the delegation of London Stock Exchange Group the Group’s operational mechanism of what is known as “Green Bonds” launched in 2015, and the investment opportunities in these bonds, the Group’s role in financing clean energy projects and means of benefiting from these opportunities to support sustainable development projects.
At the end of the meeting, both sides exchanged thanks on organizing the meeting and agreed to follow up on the meeting’s outcome and coordinate with the London Stock Exchange Group to establish cooperation channels for IBC members who are interested in financing mechanisms, issuance of bonds and financing clean energy projects.
