As part of the economic and financial cooperation between the Iraqi and Jordanian private sectors, IBC hosted on Thursday May 14th 2026 at IBC offices an economic meeting with the CEO of Amman Stock Exchange, Mr. Mazin Wathaifi.
The delegation from the Amman Stock Exchange included Mr. Bassam Abu Abbas / Depurty CEO, Mr. Muhammad Shneior /Director of Operations Department / Mr. Saad Alawneh / Director of Listings Department / Ms. Rasha Dayyat / Director of Planning & Institutional Development, Ms. Alba Al-Najdawi / Director of Legal Affairs Department, and Mr. Amjad Al-Qudah / Director of Communications & Media Department.
IBC Deputy Chairman & Secretary-General, Dr. Saad Naji, welcomed the delegation in the presence of IBC members; Mr. Muhammad Jawad Al-Jubouri, Mr. Hani Idris, Ms. Niran Al-Hakim, Businessman Mr. Yahya Al-Jeddah, and IBC General Manager. The meeting was also attended by H.E. the Iraqi Cultural Advisor, Dr. Kheir Al-Din Al-Amin.
IBC Director General provided an overview on the Iraqi Business Council and its role in strengthening economic and investment relations between Iraq and Jordan.
During the meeting, Dr. Saad Naji welcomed the Amman Stock Exchange delegation and emphasized the meeting’s importance as to opening new avenues for cooperation between the two sides, particularly enhancing investment awareness, exchanging expertise and encouraging Iraqi and Jordanian companies to benefit from opportunities available in the financial markets. He also highlighted the important role of financial institutions and capital markets in supporting investment partnerships and developing the private sector activities.
For his part, H.E. Mr. Mazin Watheifi reviewed the role of the Amman Stock Exchange in supporting the investment environment, explaining the mechanisms of the financial market and the importance of disclosure, corporate governance and the listing requirements in enhancing investor confidence and enabling companies to grow and expand.
He further expressed readiness of the Amman Stock Exchange to cooperate with the Iraqi Business Council to organize introductory meetings and specialized workshops for the Council members to raise awareness of investment, listing and trading opportunities through the Amman Stock Exchange.
The two sides also discussed prospects for joint cooperation and the possibility of organizing training programs for business leaders and companies, contributing to greater utilization of capital market instruments and opening broader channels for communication between investors and relevant institutions in Iraq and Jordan.
At the end of the meeting, IBC extended an invitation to Mr. Mazin Wathaifi and the accompanying delegation to participate in the 2026 Agencies & Franchise Exhibition. Both sides stressed on the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation between IBC and the Amman Stock Exchange and exchanged thanks for organizing the meeting.
